How to Pack Clothes for Moving
When it comes to moving your clothes, you have graduated beyond stuffing them into an enormous trash bag and schlepping them to your new place. But now that you are all grown up and ready to move again, what’s the best and most efficient way to pack clothes for moving?
Move the dresser
For starters, you may not have to empty your dresser prior to your move. If your drawers are packed with lightweight items, it may not be a big deal to just move the dresser as it is. Check with your mover. If they are okay with you leaving the drawers and contents in the dresser, this method will make for an easier move.
As for your closet, the idea of removing all your clothes from their hangers and stuffing them into boxes may be unappealing for a number of reasons. The wrinkled clothes, under-weight boxes, and hanger hassle might outweigh the benefits of emptying your closet into boxes.

That said, you can make regular boxes work for you if you pack smart—folding and labeling the contents of your closet in a systematic fashion might work for your wardrobe. You may also want to consider using some sort of tissue or packing paper to keep your clothes clean and fresh.
Try using a luggage
One way around boxing up your clothes is to use stuff you are already going to move anyway—your luggage. If you are going to move luggage to your new house, you could fill it with your clothes. Your luggage is perfect for moving delicate or pricey clothing items. Using your luggage also allows you to easily identify where your clothes are on the truck.
Invest in wardrobe boxes
But if you have a lot of clothes and want to avoid any hassle, your best bet is to invest in a few wardrobe boxes. These long cardboard boxes come equipped with a metal bar designed to hang your clothes. All you’ll need to do is transfer the clothes (hanger and all) from your closet to the box. This will help you avoid folding, wrinkling, and having to remove your clothes from their hangers. This solution is likely the priciest, but it’s well worth it if you can afford it.
