Moving? Maybe you should send an e-card
Who reads the directions on a tube of toothpaste or a bottle of shampoo? There are some things you just know how to do. Like moving. How many people read the directions on how to move? Apparently, not nearly enough.
“You figure you know what to do. You pack up and move.” says Ashley White, who recently moved from Fort Smith, Arkansas, to Nashville, Tennessee. An MBA student at Vanderbilt, Ashley certainly didn’t feel the need to read up on how to move.
“What I forgot to do was send notices to all my friends and relatives,” says Ashley, who moved using a couple of ReloCubes from ABF U-Pack Moving. “Then after I moved, I noticed that upack.com has all these e-Cards available. I could have used those.”
Moving ecards
U-Pack online moving resources now include an array of e-Cards for informal moving notification. Any visitor to upack.com can use e-Cards to automatically send a personalized moving notice to their list of contacts, before or after a move.
“The e-Cards are meant to supplement the formal change of address process at the U.S. Postal Service,” says Kay Lynn Clay, U-Pack business development manager. “U-Pack Moving e-Cards are a quick, easy and fun way to notify acquaintances of an upcoming or recently completed move. Best of all, the e-Cards aren’t limited to U-Pack customers. Anyone can use them.”
Send them to family and friends
A broad selection of e-Cards is available for individuals, couples or families who are relocating. “There are even e-Cards people can use to ask their friends and family to help them pack, or to welcome people to their new home,” says Kay Lynn. “Making moving more convenient and less stressful is what U-Pack is all about.”
The U-Pack online Resource Center includes moving information, packing and loading tips, relocation advice, moving checklists and online tools for planning and organizing a do-it-yourself move.
UPack’s Pack-A-Cube game
In addition to the new e-Cards, upack.com offers an interactive Pack-A-Cube game with cash or discount awards. The site also features instructional videos for quick reference. A free DVD version is available by request. “A Moving Calendar View shows which days are best for scheduling a move and a Box Estimator helps determine how many moving boxes are needed,” says Kay Lynn.
“Upack.com is designed to be a valuable resource for consumers interested in saving money by moving themselves,” says Kay Lynn. “The Web site offers a consumer-oriented experience with helpful tools and information to plan a long-distance move.”
U-Pack is a service of ABF Freight System, Inc., an award-winning transporter of general commodities. In 1997, ABF ® began offering its shipping services directly to consumers via U-Pack Moving. In doing so, the carrier introduced an alternative means of moving residential and business belongings cross country. U-Pack combines the professional driver and equipment of a traditional full-service mover with the cost savings of a rental truck.
“When I graduate from Vandy, you can bet I’ll use all the resources U-Pack has to offer, especially the e-cards.” says Ashley.
