Moving Truck Accessories Make Moving Easier
Just like using the right tool for the job makes the job go smoother, so does using the right moving truck accessories. Every truck rental service offers accessories that are designed to help you move your items easier, safer and more efficiently. But many do-it-yourself movers aren’t aware that these items are even available. While these items are not usually included in most truck rental quotes, their added cost may actually be well worth it if you find yourself in the position where you need them.
Hand trucks
One of the greatest challenges with a do-it-yourself move is moving heavy appliances and furniture. Having a hand truck capable of moving these cumbersome items is essential. Not only will you save your back but you’ll also be able to cut a lot of time otherwise spent navigating these heavy items out of the house and into the truck.
Furniture pads
When moving an entire house worth of furniture and items, you can be sure that there’s going to be some jostling going on in the back of the truck. In worse case scenarios, things will bang together and sometimes break or become noticeably damaged.
Heavy duty furniture pads are designed to keep your furniture and other delicate items safe, protected and secure. By placing these pads over and between your items, they’ll be safe from dings, dents and scratches.
Packing supplies
Boxes, tape, pad locks and other packing supplies are available at most truck rental agencies. While these items will more than likely cost more from the rental agency than from other resources, sometimes the convenience is worth the extra cost.
Car dolly
A car dolly is a type of trailer specifically used for towing front-wheel-drive vehicles. With a car dolly, the vehicle’s front wheels are lifted off of the pavement and the car is towed with only the rear wheels on the ground. Most truck rentals 16-feet and larger can accommodate a car dolly.
Car carrier
A car carrier is a trailer offered by truck rental agencies that is designed for all vehicles but most commonly used to transport four-wheel or all-wheel-drive vehicles. With this type of trailer, the vehicle’s wheels are completely off the ground and on the trailer. It can be accommodated by most moving trucks sized 16-feet or larger.
Choose the right accessories for your DIY move
Whether to make the task of packing safer and easier or for convenience’s sake, moving truck accessories play an important and valuable role in most successful moves. By using the proper moving supplies and tools, you’ll enjoy a more comfortable move and one with less stress, bodily risk and potential for damage.
Keep in mind that these accessories are added-cost items but always keep an eye out for promotions, coupons and specials and you might be able to get one or more of them for free. If not, you can always try negotiating with the moving truck rental agency to see if they can give you some complimentary accessories.
